How to use the Web to enhance your brand

Globe and Mail Update

The word “trust” isn't often applied to dealings on the Internet. The Web has made it easier than ever to reach customers, but they are less likely to listen.

Social networks, on the other hand, have far more power than marketing messages. Web users trust their peers – witness the influence of consumer ratings, feedback and message boards.

Julien Smith, a co-author of Trust Agents, is a social media expert who can show how to use these networks to build your brand's influence, reputation and profit.

Mr. Smith is an author, consultant, and speaker who has been involved in online communities for more than 15 years – from early BBSes and flashmobs to the social Web as we know it today. He was one of the first people on the Web to use podcasting, in 2004, as well as being one of the first Web personalities to get broadcast on traditional radio. He also writes a blog: http://inoveryourhead.net.

Mr. Smith took your questions about social media earlier.
