Not long after Angela Quinton and her husband Justin bought Sandberg Labs, they set lofty goals: make the Lethbridge, Alta.-based soil- and feed-testing company the biggest and most accessible facility of its kind in Western Canada by the end of 2015, and double annual revenue to $1-million by boosting capacity, modernizing the lab and expanding services.
How to do that?
The Globe and Mail and Telus Corp. kicked off a search last year for small companies tackling big-business issues. Nearly 900 entries were received from across the country, including one from Sandberg Labs, which was chosen the 'winner' by a panel of experts and took home a grant of $100,000.
