“There are eight million stories in the naked city,” the narrator says at the close of the 1940s film The Naked City. “This has been one of them.”
In our case we’re talking about business launches, but it’s a similar premise: There are millions of startup stories in the world of entrepreneurship, and we’re going to start telling them, one at a time.
Whether it was outlined on the back of a paper napkin, it was financed by your sister’s mother-in-law’s next-door neighbour, or it was a desperation move after you were laid off by a corporation, we want to hear about how your small or medium-sized business got its start.
The first installment of our video series features Derrick Fung, who talks about why he launched Tunezy. If you’re an entrepreneur and, like Mr. Fung, you’d like to contribute to How I Started, please fill out the following submission form below, or click here. For added inspiration, check out our YouTube channel featuring small business owners across the country.
If you’re chosen to participate, be prepared to shoot and send us a two-minute video of yourself telling your start-up story. We’re not looking for anything fancy. A smart phone camera will do. And now, on with the show.
