Barclays lures former Harry Winston executive back to banking Add to ...

Alan Mayne is headed back into the world of investment banking after leaving his role as chief financial officer of Harry Winston Diamonds.

He's another big hire for Barclays Capital as they build out in Canada. Mr. Mayne is the new head of diversified, consumer, industrial, technology, media and telecom investment banking for Barclays Capital in Toronto.

Mr. Mayne, before heading into the corporate world, was a senior banker at TD Securities and UBS.

Mr. Mayne's departure from Harry Winston was announced back in February.

Mr. Mayne was co-head of mergers and acquisitions at TD. At UBS, he worked in the London office.

After TD, he moved to the corporate side of the street, becoming CFO at broadcaster CHUM. He stayed there for three years, leaving in mid-2007 as Bell Globemedia finished up its takeover of the company.

He joined Harry Winston in early 2008.
