Desjardins introduces energy bankers Add to ...

Desjardins Securities formally introduced its oil patch energy team on Friday, with a trio of former Blackmont Capital investment bankers joining the firm.

Montreal-based Desjardins has national aspirations, and now has a Calgary office that is home to three financiers.

Thomas Stan joins Desjardins as a managing director. He has two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, and at investment dealers, including stints with Sound Energy Trust, Total Energy Services Ltd., Petro-Canada and Amerada Hess.

Desjardins also welcomed Alex Shegelman as a vice president and Stuart Roberts as an Associate.

The departure of this trio is a blow to CI Capital Partners, the newly-launched, employee-owned institutional dealer that was spun out of Blackmont Capital. The retail arm of Blackmont Capital was acquired earleir this month by Macquarie Group.
