Enbridge Inc. has a new executive vice-president and chief financial officer.
The Calgary-based pipeline company on Friday named John Whelen to the role effective Oct. 15. Mr. Whelen replaces Richard Bird, who will remain executive vice-president, corporate development, until his retirement on Dec. 31.
Mr. Whelen has held various executive positions through 22 years at Enbridge, most recently as senior vice-president, finance, and senior vice-president of corporate development. He also served as CFO and then president of Enbridge Income Fund.
Enbridge last month said it plans to spend $44-billion through 2018 to expand its North American web of pipelines.
