The long-time chief executive, and inaugural employee, of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada is retiring.

Larry Waite handed over the reins on the last day of September, Canada's mutual fund industry regulator said in a statement on Thursday.

After nine years at the top, and fourteen with the organization, the MFDA board began looking for a successor for Mr. Waite earlier this year. In June, it settled on Mark Gordon, a former vice-president at the organization who has also worked at the Ontario Securities Commission.
