The latest addition to Lehman Brothers' Toronto office shows the U.S. brokerage house expects the Canadian banks and insurers to start pulling the triggers on deals. Lehman hired Adam Sinclair away from New York-based Citigroup, where he spent the last seven years covering financial institutions. Mr. Sinclair will move to Toronto as a senior vice-president of Lehman, and member of its global financial services team. This move comes at a time when all three of the big Canadian life insurers are seen as potential acquirers of American rivals, and the six major domestic banks continue to pick away at mid-tier American, Caribbean and South American banks.
