The entrance for National Bank Financial on the corner of King St. West and York St. in Toronto's Financial district.Charla Jones/The Globe and Mail

Two senior members of National Bank Financial's investment banking team are leaving the dealer, one heading to a client and the other heading to a competitor.

Glen Hirsh, who runs real estate investment banking and has been at NBF since 2007, is heading to Oxford Properties, the real estate arm of the OMERS pension fund. Mr. Hirsh will work in the finance and strategy group at his new shop, which manages $40-billion of real estate in Canada, the U.S. and Europe.

Rob Sainsbury will also exit his role as head of the technology, media and telecom group at NBF. Mr. Sainsbury will now work at Scotia Capital overseeing coverage of TMT and healthcare. Mr. Sainsbury worked at NBF for more than a decade and is fluent in Spanish, something that could be helpful at Scotiabank, given its Latin American growth focus.

Scotia Capital is currently re-working its capital markets team, after parting ways with its former co-head of investment banking last fall and naming Dieter Jentsch its new head of global banking and markets after Mike Durland announced his retirement plans in February.
