Norton Rose Canada welcomes new China and mining crew Add to ...

Four partners and two consultants from Gowling Lafleur Henderson have taken a walk south on Bay St. to Norton Rose Canada’s offices.

Norton Rose announced the addition of six new lawyers to their team on Monday. The group is focused on mining and on deals involving China, which are both major growth areas for the international law firm.

Four of the new hires will be partners in the Toronto office. They include David McIntyre, Robert Mason, Janet Howard and Janet Lee. All four have experience in mining and/or resources (among other things), and three have notable experience working with Chinese clients. They were all partners at Gowlings, too.

The other two new additions include Ottawa-based Yufei Luo, who is described as a Chinese lawyer. She will work with Chinese investors in Canada’s resource sector. The second, located in Beijing, is Lei Huang, another Chinese lawyer with experience practicing law in both China and Canada. Both worked under the title of “consultant” at Gowlings.
