RBC is the model of dividend investing – share prices may fluctuate, but the company will continue to raise payouts.Gloria Nieto/The Globe and Mail

The economies of Europe are stabilizing, if not recovering, and RBC Dominion Securities is building out its research department to spot investment opportunities.

The bank hired Graeme Pearson as a managing director and head of European equity research. He joins other capital markets and research hires made in the region last month.

"As the first signs of economic recovery in the U.K. and euro zone emerge, and institutional investor flows begin to rotate into equities, our extensive equity research will be essential to our clients to help them navigate the European equities space and make informed investment decisions," said Richard Talbot, co-head of global equity research at RBC.

This is a more focused role for Mr. Pearson, who previously worked at Nomura International where he headed equity research for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Prior to that he led a European telecom research team at Lehman Brothers.
