Royal Bank of Canada chief executive Gordon Nixon has been appointed a Member of the Order of Canada.
Governor General Michaëlle Jean announced 74 new appointments to the Order on Wednesday, including three Companions, 18 Officers and 53 Members (you can read the full list here). They are being recognized for demonstrating excellence, courage or exceptional dedication to service in ways that bring credit to the country.
Also among those on the list is Toronto-Dominion Bank CEO Ed Clark, who becomes a Member of the Order.
Michael Wilson, the former finance minister who is now chairman of Barclays Capital, was promoted to Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest level, for his work as an advocate for the mentally ill.
