Burgeoning wireless provider Wind Mobile is beefing up its management ranks by hiring one the industry's leading telecom analysts.

Glen Campbell is joining the company to take on the role of chief commercial officer, leaving behind his gig as head of Canadian equity research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. At BofA, Mr. Campbell also oversaw coverage of Canadian telecom companies.

The hire comes four months after Wind replaced its chief executive officer, handing the reins to Alek Krstajic. Mr. Krstajic previously ran Public Mobile, which was sold to Telus Corp., and before that he served as president of BCE Inc.'s wireless division in 2005 as well as senior vice president at Rogers Communications Inc.

Mr. Campbell, the new COO, is well-known on Bay Street and has been with BofA and Merrill Lynch – they use to be separate dealers, of course – for almost two decades, save for a brief stint when he almost jumped ship for Scotia Capital.
