Mark Carney is leaving the Bank of Canada to become governor of one of the world’s oldest central banks, the Bank of England.

Mr. Carney, the former Goldman Sachs investment banker who took over Canada’s central bank in 2008, will lead the Bank of England starting in July, 2013. He has committed to doing the job for five years.
