Amazon announced Sunday that the company is researching a fleet of octocopters (eight propellers instead of four) to deliver products within 30 minutes of a customer placing an order – a project called Prime Air. Even though Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said the drones will probably not be deployed on a large scale for another three years at least, the very idea that the world's largest digital store is betting so heavily on drone technology is perhaps the best thing to ever happen to the industry.
