Was it really necessary to qualify the day off by adding "dead" to prime minister? Couldn't we just honour past Prime Ministers? And shouldn't "All" be an option for which should be first?

Sir John A. Macdonald Due to his efforts we have a Canada. Why not just a Prime Minister Day? As the years pass we can specify the importance of each one, dead or alive.

Sir John A. Macdonald should be named exclusively as our founding father and none other...and the naming should not be joined with the naming of Laurier or anyone else.

Instead of a National Holiday honouring dead prime ministers, why don't we vote for a national holiday honouring the Canadian Tax payer. It should fall on Tax Freedom day. The first day that Canadians are actually working for their families and not the government.

I believe we should have a national holiday, but there should be an annual auction whereby businesses and individuals could bid on the naming rights, e.g. "Roots Day." Ex-prime ministers would be welcome to bid. Two advantages: money raised from the auction could go to a charity and let's face it, most people don't care what holiday they are celebrating just as long as they get to spend an extra day with family and friends. Above all else, I believe home and time for oneself is worth a national holiday.

I was disappointed that I could only vote for one person to commemorate for the proposed Prime Ministers' Day. We have at least 5 good Prime Ministers to celebrate.
