Premier-elect of Canada

Mr. Borden was nearly forty before he entered Parliament, and he has achieved the leadership of it in the comparatively short period of fifteen years.

Born at Grand Pre. June 26, 1854, Mr. Borden took to the law, and was called to the Bar in 1878. Perhaps he acquired his first taste for politics from the close political associations of the legal firm with which he has been associated. It produced men like Sir John Thompson, Judge Graham, and Sir Charles Tupper.

Always a Nova Scotian, Mr. Borden entered the Dominion House in 1896 for Halifax. He was chosen leader of the Conservative Party at a caucus held on February 6, 1901.
