Is it closing time for the music industry?
When the head honchos of Canadian music gather this week in Toronto to discuss their industry's outlook, there won't be many big smiles. Thanks in part to the Internet, CD sales are in free fall, and record-company revenues along with them. Many analysts are predicting the current companies will be replaced by a new industry within five years. At the current rate, within 18 months there will be virtually no stores selling only CDs.
