Politics and long division
When reading a newspaper, especially a newspaper column, it's important to remember that most journalists hated math so much that they were left with nothing but reading and writing, which is why they ended up where they are. This helps explain why the press is so nervous about allegations that the Auditor-General's report is at least partly wrong.
