Bruce DeanAdvocate for working people, church stalwart, husband, father, friend. Born May 17, 1958 in Gravelbourg, Sask. Died Jan. 16 in Edmonton, of neurological illness, aged 45.Bruce served as a union representative for United Food and Commercial Workers, Local 401, in Alberta from 1988 until his death. In his work, he combined vision in advancing the rights of workers, patience and calm guidance in handling the constant queries and telephone calls from members, astounding depth of knowledge and detail, and warm collegiality with all who worked with him. Union colleagues speak of him as an intelligent, diplomatic negotiator.
