One big happy family

Senior Martin strategist David Herle was forced to apologize yesterday to a prominent Liberal colleague. Mr. Herle sent a stunning letter of apology to former Liberal Party pollster Michael Marzolini, the head of national polling firm Pollara, for remarks he made in the press. In a story in the National Post on Thursday, Mr. Herle was quoted saying that Mr. Marzolini -- the pollster for the three campaigns that resulted in majority governments for Jean Chrétien and also for Paul Martin's 1990 leadership bid -- was trying to "sabotage" the campaign. Some Pollara polls numbers had leaked out, suggesting the Tories were heading for a minority government.
