Little Scarlett, by Walter Mosley, Little, Brown, 306 pages, $34.95This is, quite simply, the best novel in the best series by one of the best crime novelists writing. Once again, Walter Mosley takes us back in time to a place of fear and rage. It's 1965, and the black neighbourhood of Watts in Los Angeles is exploding. Against that backdrop, Mosley sets a story of murder, but Little Scarlett is about a whole lot more.
