We must be prepared to invade Sudan
First came the relentless attacks from Arab militias, known as the janjaweed, which burned their houses, slaughtered the able-bodied men, and used systematic rape to intimidate women. Then came the terrifying, exhausting journey to makeshift camps in neighbouring Chad. The onset of heavy rain has brought even more misery to the Sudanese refugees, cutting off roads that serve as conduits for aid shipments, destroying straw shelters, disrupting water supplies and spreading disease.
