The case of the stalker and the masterpieces
It has become clear by now that the reasons behind the brazen theft of two Edvard Munch paintings from the Munch Museum in Oslo were probably psychological rather than commercial. The paintings are, in monetary terms, absolutely worthless. They cannot be sold anywhere in the world. They probably never had a financial worth, since they weren't for sale, and they weren't even insured against theft by the museum. They may have been useful as hostages in demanding a ransom, but there have been no ransom demands from anyone.
