'So much happiness and sadness together'

TORONTO -- Steven Scheffer has vivid memories of being liberated by Canadian soldiers. It was April 1, 1945, and he was playing with his pals when a big troop-carrier turned down his narrow cobblestone street in Enschede, Holland, flattening his friend's father's cherished orange marigolds.
