Stelco talks hit an impasse

The impasse at Stelco Inc. appears too thorny to resolve -- even for a former Ontario court judge hailed as a "genius" at mediation.George Adams, a retired Ontario Superior Court judge, threw up his hands in the mediation talks between the fractious Stelco stakeholders yesterday and tossed the future of the legally insolvent steel maker back in the lap of Mr. Justice James Farley, who has been overseeing the restructuring since Jan. 29, 2004.
