British Invasion sixties pop icon. Born June 24, 1945, in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. Lead singer for the Zombies, the second British Invasion band after the Beatles to score a No. 1 hit in North America, in 1964. After the Zombies broke up, went to work in the insurance industry. Reborn as a solo artist in the early seventies. Albums such as One Year, Ennismore and Journey produce British top 10 hits and ensure cult status in the U.S. and Canada. Breathy, understated choir-boy vocals a big influence on Yes front man Jon Anderson. One of Britain's finest pop vocalists ever.
