Effort to save snakes proving successful

Narcisse, Man. -- Greater numbers of reptiles are slithering around Manitoba's famous garter-snake dens, thanks to efforts by Manitoba Hydro workers to prevent the snakes from becoming road kill.An estimated 25,000 garter snakes were killed on Highway 17 in Manitoba's Interlake region in early 1997.
