The future is now for Canadian verse
Modern and NormalBy Karen Solie Brick Books, 95 pages, $17It is generally unwise, and perhaps unfair, to pin much of one's hope for contemporary poetry on the lapel of a writer so early in her career. So let me qualify the coming praise by noting that Modern and Normal is only Karen Solie's second book, following her widely acclaimed, Griffin Prize-nominated debut, Short Haul Engine, and it is therefore too early to say definitively the things I am going to say anyway.
