How did it all go so wrong at the CBC?

A few weeks into the recent CBC lockout, a charming chapter in labour relations that may come to be known as Little Bobby's Brainstorm, I began a series of coffee meetings with the lockoutees. I was only marginally interested in the substance of the actual dispute -- the debate over contract versus permanent employees. What intrigued me more was the mindset that had given rise to it.
