Lorus reports positive results in drug trial

Drug developer Lorus Therapeutics Inc. has reported positive interim clinical results with an experimental treatment for a form of leukemia.In a presentation to the American Society of Hematology meeting in Atlanta yesterday, Toronto-based Lorus said its GTI-2040 drug combined with the chemotherapy drug cytarabine eliminated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in 44 per cent of patients aged 60 or younger.
