Germany muscling in on softwood, report says

VANCOUVER -- Germany is shaping up as a major competitor to the Canadian softwood lumber industry in key markets such as Japan and the United States."We don't often think of the Germans as competition," said Russell Taylor, a Vancouver forestry consultant and co-author of a joint report released yesterday by PricewaterhouseCoopers and International Wood Market Research Inc.
