Flattening of yield curve sparks calls to ease Fed tightening

Bond markets in the United States are shouting that the rate-setting arm of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board should stop raising the federal funds rate and soon.There was only a razor-thin difference of two basis points between the 4.35-per-cent yield on two-year Treasuries and the 4.37-per-cent yield on 10-year Treasuries late last week. A year ago there was a 122-point spread. (A basis point is 1/100th of a percentage point.)
