Tanking tourism
Age-old Canadian stereotypes are keeping American tourists away from Toronto's sights and sounds and contributing to a stalling tourism industry, hotel and tourism officials say.Toronto's tourism economy has lost momentum after its recovery from SARS in 2003 and the government needs to spend more money on advertising the city to Americans as a premier travel destination, Rod Seiling, president of the Greater Toronto Hotel Association, said yesterday.
