Of the many skills she brings to leading one of Canada's premier universities, perhaps none serves Heather Munroe-Blum as well as a very healthy sense of optimism.An "optimistic spirit," by her own reckoning, helped her through a turbulent childhood and a battle with polio that was supposed to leave her unable to walk (see page 22). And now it's helping at the helm of McGill, where the business of running a world-class institution has never seemed so daunting.
