Eskimos' Maurer retires after 10 seasons in CFL

Edmonton -- Edmonton Eskimos fullback and special-teams player Mike Maurer is retiring after 10 CFL seasons. He spent the past three years in Edmonton and was the top Canadian in the Eskimos' 2005 Grey Cup victory. Maurer, a 32-year-old Saskatoon native, also won the Grey Cup with the B.C. Lions in 2000. He broke into the league in 1998 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and also played for the Ottawa Renegades.
