Canucks and Mellanby: an item

VANCOUVER -- New Vancouver Canucks general manager Mike Gillis has made his second front-office hire, and it is a name familiar to NHL fans.Scott Mellanby, who played for 20 seasons with five NHL clubs, has been brought aboard to serve as a consultant to Gillis and the hockey operations department. It is a full-time position, concentrating on professional personnel. Mellanby will be based in his home of St. Louis, where he has three children under 14. Gillis had previously hired former Phoenix Coyotes assistant general manager Laurence Gilman as the Canucks' director of hockey administration.
