Brother, husband, father, airline captain. Born Jan. 15, 1920, in Moose Jaw, Sask. Died Oct. 31, 2001, after a stroke, in Morin Heights, Que., aged 81.The eldest son, big brother to three sisters and a baby brother, young air force squadron leader, head of a family and senior airline captain, my father was wrapped in some mantle of duty for most of his life. As a Canadian born of parents eking out a modest way from the western prairies of the 1920s and 1930s, he learned to remain focused on each task at hand.
