Robert Sloan Lucas

War hero, father, grandfather. Born Sept. 25, 1915, in Lachine, Que. Died Oct. 11 in Cobourg, Ont., of natural causes, aged 87.On Aug. 14, 1944, in France, Captain Robert Lucas's tank was blown up. His regiment was surrounded and outnumbered by the German army. Facing almost certain annihilation he walked out to meet the enemy alone and unarmed to demand that they surrender. They declined.
