BUTTEMER, Paul Brian February 24, 1956 – May 4, 2008
Passed away suddenly at Victoria BC on Sunday, May 4, 2008. He leaves behind his children Evan, Gwendolyn, Tessa, and Clara, his wife Amalia Schelhorn Buttemer, parents Austin and Mary Buttemer and sister Anita Buttemer. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many friends. Born in Toronto, Paul quickly showed his talent as a musician at age 6 when he started piano lessons. In high school his passion turned to the bassoon, which he pursued in university, graduating with honours in Music Performance from the University of Toronto in 1978. Paul's contribution to the musical community as a bassoonist, reed- maker and teacher will be remembered, and his loss will be strongly felt.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, First Unitarian Church of Victoria, 5575 West Saanich Road, Victoria. Donations in Paul's honour would be greatly appreciated to Our Place www.ourplacesociety.com in order to fulfil Paul's initial efforts at starting a SMART Recovery (R) program in Victoria.
