KENNETH MORGAN CLARKE
Passed away at St. Mary's Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario on Tuesday May 6th in his 88th year. Born in Sudbury, June 10th 1920, Ken is survived by Elizabeth Clarke (Rickaby) his wife and best friend of 65 years. Predeceased by his brother Ashworth Morgan Clarke and survived by his sister Joan Melesina Horne of North Bay. He will be greatly missed by sons Peter, Michael (Lesley) and Kenneth (Debi) and grandchildren Meghan, David, Jon, Katie, Brian and Stephanie. He and Elizabeth first met at Queens University where he graduated in 1943 with a BSc in Applied Sciences. He went on to obtain his Masters degree of Metallurgy at the University of Toronto in 1948. He worked for many years in Sault Ste. Marie at the Algoma Steel Corporation before retiring in 1976 from his role as Superintendent of Basic Steel Production. He was a dedicated volunteer serving his community of Sault Ste. Marie. Rotary Club President (1963-64) as well as Community Night Parade Marshall for many years. He was a King Scout and very involved in Scouting. An active member of the Library Board from 1952-1976 and Chairman of the Building Committee for The Centennial Library completed in 1967. He was also United Way Chairman in 1965 and was involved for many years with the Ontario Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association (Ontario Lung Association) including as Chairman 1968-69. Member of Advisory Counsel on Engineering 1973-2001, Queens University. The funeral will be held in Kingston Ontario on Saturday May 10th, 2008 at St. Mark's Anglican Church (268 Main St., Barriefield) at 2 pm reception to follow at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd., Friday May 9, 2008
