JUNE 16, 1909 - MAY 11, 2008 JOHN H. (JACK) PASSMORE Peacefully at Union Villa Retirement home in Unionville in his 98th year. Jack Passmore grew up on 'the mountain' in Hamilton and attended Central Collegiate and McMaster University. He took an active part in athletics at both institutions which led to an teaching career in Physical and Health Education in Ottawa and Toronto. After retiring from the R.C.A.F. as a Squadron Leader following W.W. II he was appointed a Professor at the Faculty for Education at the University of Toronto. His many contributions to Teacher Education were recognized in 1980 when a special Student Scholarship was established in his honor. McMaster University awarded him and Honorary L.L.D. in 1982. Throughout his adult life he was always involved in many kinds of volunteer work with the Red Cross, his church and local schools and hospital. He was also very active with his professional organizations. Jack is predeceased by his wives Mariane and Jessie, his brothers Gordon and Conrad, his sisters Margaret and Frances and his Granddaughter Heather. Jack is fondly remembered by his children Maggie, Nancy and John, his step-children Joan and John, five grand-children and four greatgrand-children. A memorial service will be held at Richmond Hill United Church, 10201 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2008. A reception at the church will follow the service.
