'Crazy English' and other oddities of China's Olympic fever

I don't know about you, but the Beijing Olympics thing gives me the creeps.Nothing against sporting events. I've just returned from one of the biggest. With the looming games in Beijing, what's almost macabre is the overwrought background to it all. There was the farce of the Olympic torch relay. There's the endless speculation about pollution in Beijing. There's the sense that contemporary China is using all the resources of an authoritarian regime to accommodate the games and give the world an utterly false picture of China.
