The politics of protest don't truly empower

Last week, after the OPP tried to evict the native protesters at Caledonia, people kept insisting that the politicians hadn't learned anything from Ipperwash. Baloney. They learned everything from Ipperwash. Above all, they learned not to touch a native protest with a bargepole. Instead of hurling curses at those obstinate Indians, Dalton McGuinty struck a pose of guileless deniability. Protest? What protest? Besides, it's Ottawa's problem!
