Darfur peace pact is 'close'
Negotiators in Nigeria reported making headway as they worked past a deadline last night on talks aimed at ending three years of civil war between the Sudanese government and rebel forces in the Darfur region, a conflict that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians.
