U.S. military apologizes for killing civilians

KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN and LONDON, ONT. -- The U.S. military has offered an apology, compensation and a personal explanation from the highest-ranking U.S. officer in Afghanistan, trying to quell anger over the latest air strike to kill civilians.
