When a tyrannical government releases a political prisoner, as Iran did this week with Canadian Ramin Jahanbegloo, you rejoice while also recognizing that the nature of the tyranny has not changed. Earlier this month, for instance, Iran banned the Centre for the Protection of Human Rights led by Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi. Separately, police raided apartment buildings in Tehran and pulled down more than 100 satellite dishes.
