Hey kids! Comics!
When they had their debut in the 1930s, comics for kids ruled the newsstands and later, Asterix and Tintin became bookstore staples. Although today Richie Rich, Donald Duck et al. have all but disappeared from the drugstore spinner racks, the French and Belgian standbys have been joined on the shelf by dozens of great titles (and not just manga!), and savvy parents, teachers and librarians are scooping them up to help cultivate recreational reading.
