What I burned on my summer vacation

LONDON -- Welcome back from your summer holidays. Just how much of the Earth did you manage to destroy? That seems to be the question of the season. Something has happened over the past few months: Suddenly, almost every thinking person, including those who had up to now expressed intelligent skepticism, is now willing to acknowledge that human carbon-gas emissions are contributing to a rise in climate temperatures, and that this is a serious problem, and that something ought to be done.
