Attack on U.S. embassy foiled
WASHINGTON -- Islamic terrorists attacked the heavily fortified U.S. embassy compound in Damascus yesterday but failed to penetrate it after a fierce gun battle with Syrian security forces.At least one Syrian guard employed by the embassy was killed and several policemen were injured. Three of the four assailants were killed and one was wounded, according to Syrian authorities.
